Goodspeed Tours
Celebrate 150 years of the Goodspeed Opera House with an hour-long tour led by a volunteer from the Goodspeed Guild!

For generations, The Goodspeed Opera House has stood on the banks of the Connecticut River. Built in 1876—87 years before Goodspeed Musicals was founded—the Goodspeed Opera House quickly became the hub of everyday life in East Haddam. Its ground floor once housed a general store, meat market, and post office, while upstairs in the theatre, audiences gathered to enjoy performances brought in by steamship, live entertainment created by locals, and community celebrations.
Discover how an enterprising family, a picturesque landmark, an insightful restoration, and brilliant execution evolved into one of the most important institutions in American theater. Go behind the scenes of a musical at the Goodspeed Opera House and explore areas such as backstage and the actors' dressing rooms while learning about the vibrant history of this iconic landmark.
