NYC Equity Auditions will be announced in trade publications such as Variety and Backstage.

Goodspeed Musicals is holding LOCAL CHILD AUDITIONS for its 2019 production of Billy Elliot on Sunday, May 19, starting at 12:00 p.m. in East Haddam, CT.  Auditions will be for ballet girls and the Michel understudy.  We are looking for candidates with strong dance ability between the ages of 7 and 16. Candidates must be available for four weeks of rehearsal and a 12-week performance run, August 13 – November 24, 2019. All auditions are by appointment only.  Appointments may be made starting immediately.  Please call (860) 873-8664, ext. 721, Monday through Friday, 9 am - 5 p.m. Interested performers should bring a resume, photo, ballet shoes (girls), tap shoes (girls and boys) and the sheet music for two 16-bar cuts (an up-tempo song and a ballad).  Music must be legible and in the proper key (No lead sheets please).  An accompanist will be provided. Goodspeed reaffirms its commitment to non-discrimination and a flexible, imaginative casting policy.  Performers of all ethnicities are strongly encouraged to audition.

KIDS COMPANY ACADEMY TEACHING ARTISTS: Goodspeed Musicals seeks candidates for teaching artist positions as part of the new Kids Company Academy. Teaching artists in the fields of musical theatre dance, vocal performance, and acting are encouraged to apply to teach weekly classes on the Goodspeed campus to students ages 7-18. Teaching artists are responsible for creating their own lesson content and preparing any necessary materials for their classes in coordination with the Education Department, as well as preparing students for an informal studio showcase at the end of each semester. Fall classes begin Monday, September 9, 2019 and run through Friday, December 20, 2019; spring classes begin Monday, February 3, 2020 and run through Friday, May 15t 2020. Qualified candidates will have professional skills, training, and experience in one or more musical theatre performance disciplines; prior teaching or teaching artist experience on the K-12 level; experience and desire to teach in an inclusive environment; and a commitment to fostering soft skills such as teamwork, respect, responsibility, and empathy. BOX OFFICE REPRESENTATIVE: Goodspeed Musicals seeks a box office representative to sell tickets and provide information about our organization’s events, in person at the box office and by phone. Must be comfortable working with a computerized ticketing system, have a professional demeanor, and provide superior customer service. DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE to support the efforts of the Development Department as it cultivates, acquires, and stewards individual and institutional donors by: managing and maintaining the Goodspeed donor database; generating reports, mailing lists and department communications; assisting with follow-up efforts for both solicitation and acknowledgements; assisting with the planning and execution of all departmental special events. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree, good writing skills, excellent book keeping skills, and strong computer literacy especially in the areas of Excel and data base management. Experience with Patron Manager a plus. The ideal candidate should be self-directed, highly organized, and detail-oriented. COSTUME RENTAL ASSISTANT Goodspeed Musicals is immediately seeking to hire a part time Costume Rental Assistant to work at our Cynthia Kellogg Barrington Costume Center over the summer.  Responsibilities include assisting our Costume Rental team with the administrative and physical responsibilities of renting and maintaining the costume collection. Seeking candidates who are fast paced, quick learners, and confident working in Microsoft Word and Excel, can lift at least 40 lbs, able to climb 2 flights of stairs and comfortable working at heights up to 12 feet. AUDIO APPRENTICE/AUDIO SWING: Goodspeed Musicals has an immediate opening for an Audio Apprentice/Audio Swing for our upcoming productions of The Music Man. Duties include assisting Designer and Engineer in the setup and maintenance of audio equipment, including wireless microphones and pit audio/video. Applicants should have some experience working with wireless microphones and microphone rigging. Hourly plus overtime, and applicants have the possibility to be eligible for the Goodspeed Musicals Andrew Isen $5,000 prize. Wig Apprentice: Goodspeed Musicals seeks a Wig Apprentice for our 2019 season. Duties include assisting the Resident Hair Designer and Wig Supervisor with all tasks associated with running the hair department.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to; the styling and maintenance of all wigs and facial hair, repairing and ventilating pieces as needed, creating and updating production paperwork, act as a swing to cover the Wig Supervisor in the event of a planned or emergency absence, assisting the Costume Rental Collection staff with daily operations including; the transfer of costumes, labeling, restocking, and repairs of inventory, and assisting in the creation/data entry of inventories. Preferred candidates would be available April  through November 2019, and be comfortable around and with large dogs and be free of any allergies to dogs. Hourly plus overtime, company housing option available, and the possibility to be eligible for the Goodspeed Musicals Andrew Isen $5,000 prize.
