Goodspeed's Musical Theatre Institute is an ever-growing education and training initiative that offers a wide array of workshops and intensives for students, young professionals, and individuals looking to continue their education in the arts. The following is a list of our current offerings:


Goodspeed Musicals Observership Program  OBSERVERSHIP PROGRAM | APPLY NOW!   
2015 Season
The Observership Program allows talented theatre artists to observe and possibly assist a Goodspeed Director, Choreographer, or Music Director during the rehearsal process of a Goodspeed Opera House or Norma Terris production.
August 2-9, 2015
Calling all up-and-coming hoofers! If you can’t help but move to the rhythms of Broadway and you want to be cast in musicals, this is the workshop for you! Goodspeed’s Dance Intensive is designed as a musical theatre dance boot camp for college age performers and professionals. Sessions are focused on preparing dancers for musical theatre auditions and the week will culminate with several mock auditions in front of industry professionals.
Goodspeed Audition Intensive  COLLEGE AUDITION INTENSIVE 
July 31 - August 2, 2015

Goodspeed’s Audition Intensive is a dynamic four-day program designed to prepare the next generation of Broadway hopefuls for the all-important college entrance audition process. High school Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors will hone their audition skills and learn tricks of the trade from industry professionals.
Goodspeed Musicals Audition Intensive

October 24, 2015
Learn to prepare a successful college audition at this one-day workshop taught by Brent Wagner, the Chair of the acclaimed Musical Theatre Department at the University of Michigan. Professor Wagner will guide high school students in all aspects of song performance, including analyzing music and lyrics, acting the song, selecting and preparing the music, and understanding audition techniques.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Directing on the K-12 Level
October 31 & December 13, 2015
Earn Professional Development hours with Goodspeed! This seminar series, designed especially for teachers, will address the challenges that arise in K-12 productions.
Goodspeed Musicals Introduction to Scenic Painting Intensive INTRODUCTION TO SCENIC PAINTING
January 2016
During this six-day intensive introductory program, participants will receive expert instruction from a team of esteemed teaching artists, including current and former Goodspeed staff.
Goodspeed Musicals Music Direction Intensive MUSIC DIRECTION INTENSIVE 
Winter 2016
During this week-long intensive, participants will use the latest technology to receive hands on training from internationally renowned Music Direction experts in the management and implementation of the audition, rehearsal, and orchestration processes.
Goodspeed Musicals Scenic Painting Intensive CHARGE SCENIC PAINTING INTENSIVE  
Whether you've worked as a charge scenic artist or you dream of becoming one, the industry's first ever Charge Scenic Painting Intensive will provide you with the professional development and networking opportunities to advance in your career. This unique program will impart the necessary skills to effectively manage a paint shop and lead a team of scenic artists.
