Arts Education Field Trip Package Deal:

Goodspeed also offers Arts Education Field Trip package deals to groups of 50 or 25 people. This is a unique opportunity to immerse your group in the educational and exciting world of musical theatre at the home of the American musical. The first part of the field trip begins with a visit from Goodspeed’s resident professional teaching artists. Teaching artists may travel to your location in Connecticut to complete the first day of the program. If your group is not based in Connecticut, an option for out-of-state groups is explained below. Teaching artists will lead an arts-integrated workshop that relates to Goodspeed’s current production. Goodspeed teaching artists design the initial workshop to make the show as accessible as possible, to include all participants, and lessons address relevant National Arts Standards. Teaching artists create study guides customized to the show, and they will share these documents with participants and teachers/group leaders during the class.

The second part of the experience begins when participants travel to Goodspeed on the day of a show. Prior to seeing the show, participants will enjoy two workshops led by actors from the production. Goodspeed’s resident teaching artists meet with actors to create lesson plans to ensure that the classes achieve specific educational goals. Then, groups enjoy a delicious picnic lunch on the banks of the Connecticut River before attending a performance at The Goodspeed or Terris Theatre. Tickets to the show are not included and need to be booked separately. Lastly, Goodspeed invites participants to stay for a talk with members of the cast.

This program is customizable depending on the needs of the group and it is available to groups located outside Connecticut. Groups coming from out of state may choose to stay over in a local hotel so that both days of the experience happen on the Goodspeed campus. For a list of possible accommodations, please click on the link to “plan your visit” below. Goodspeed teaching artists have extensive experience working with individuals of all ages, with a wide range of abilities, and from various socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. Our goal is to make your Arts Education Field Trip a valuable and unforgettable educational experience for everyone!
